Welcome to Minehead Class!

We are a class of friendly KS3 and KS4 aged learners. We have a range of abilities in our class and depending on the individual, we follow the exploratory curriculum, stages of the developing curriculum and the vocational curriculum as well as our individual EHCP targets. We have ‘now and next’ and visual timetables to support us to follow our routines.  

In Minehead class, we have a particular focus on developing our communication skills. This will look different depending on the individual.  We use a variety of communication methods such as use of keywords, Makaton, symbols and core boards to more high-tech aids such as Eye Gaze and communication iPads. 

We love music, engaging with books and social interaction. We are also working on developing our listening and attention skills through activities such as Attention Autism and sensory play. We are working on developing our gross motor skills through a range of physical activities based on individual need. Developing strategies to manage our emotional regulation and promoting independence to the best of our ability are also key areas in Minehead class.
