Welcome to Grove 1 Class!

Grove 1 is a friendly and supportive Sixth Form class for learners in Year 12 to year 14. We help our learners to get ready for their futures post Selworthy; balancing academic and life skills on a daily basis.

We currently have 6 learners, working on termly AQA Pre-entry qualifications that focus on essential skills for adulthood.

We have weekly Enterprise lessons where learners are part of the creative process of designing, making and evaluating a product to sell. This helps us practise planning, teamwork, and creativity as well as gaining confidence working on a role within a team.

Communication is embedded throughout each aspect of our day, with learners being encouraged and supported to use a range of communication aids individualised to their needs.

We also enjoy snack sessions in our independent living flat. Learners prepare their own snacks using different kitchen tools, which helps them learn practical skills in a fun way.

Each day, we watch Newsround and share our thoughts about what’s happening in the world. This helps learners understand current events and share their thoughts.

Grove 1 is a safe and inclusive space where every learner is supported to grow, learn, and get ready for life after school.
