Futures Shines in GoPro Careers Challenge 2025!
We’re incredibly proud to announce that Selworthy School were crowned the overall winners of this year’s Somerset Careers Hub: GoPro Careers Challenge 2025! Our two inspiring video entries showcased the heart, independence and community spirit that make Selworthy truly special. From entrepreneurial flair to meaningful fundraising, our learners brought careers education to life in the most creative and compassionate ways.
🎥 The first entry, "Selworthy Fundraiser for Jayne", paid tribute to our beloved staff member Jayne, who gave over 37 years of dedicated service. Learners at Hazelbrook Campus led the entire fundraiser—from managing stalls and preparing food to running activities—all while gaining invaluable work experience. Proceeds supported St Margaret’s Hospice, making this event a true celebration of learning, legacy and giving.
🥔 Our second entry, "Selworthy Spuds Enterprise", showcased Sixth Form learners embracing entrepreneurship. From taking staff orders to cooking, serving and using a card machine for payments, the weekly jacket potato service saw over 35 orders most weeks—highlighting real-world skills in action!
These projects weren’t just brilliant examples of careers education—they were reflections of empowerment, teamwork and joy. Huge thanks to everyone who made it happen!
💛 And here's the icing on the cake—or rather, the butter on the spud! The Fundraiser Event, JustGiving page, Raffles and Sixth Form Spuds Enterprise combined to raise over £2,160 for St Margaret’s Hospice. A phenomenal result that reflects the heart and generosity of our Selworthy community!!!
