We were welcomed by Kim, who shared his inspiring career journey in welding, detailing how he started, the places he’s worked over the past 20 years and what he’s doing now.

Kim then introduced us to VR welding technology, explaining how it works and demonstrating its features. We began by practising without the helmet to get our bearings – it was fun but definitely challenging to master the correct distance and angle! Some learners then opted to wear the VR helmet and experience welding in a fully immersive environment.

It was an engaging and hands-on morning that gave us a real insight into welding as a career. A huge thank you to Kim for his time and expertise - we hope to have more sessions like this in the future!
