Our Year 11 learners with a keen interest in mechanics took part in the very first On Your Bike Workshop, run by Derek from On Your Bike in Taunton. Over the course of the session, three learners worked together to build three brand-new trikes for our school.

The workshop gave them the chance to explore their passion for mechanics in a hands-on way. They learned how to use tools safely and effectively, followed technical diagrams with care and discovered how different parts fit together to create a working trike. Along the way, they developed problem-solving skills, showed real perseverance when tasks became challenging and supported one another with teamwork and collaboration.

By the end of the workshop, the learners had not only built three trikes that will be enjoyed across the school community, but they had also gained valuable work experience that will stay with them long after the project. Their pride in the finished trikes was clear to see and we are equally proud of their achievements.
