As you may know these are exciting times for Selworthy School. In the next 2 years a new, purpose built school will replace the old St Augustine’s. This will then accommodate our upper school learners allowing us to increase our intake and meet the growing need for specialist provision in our area.
Our lower school will remain on the current Selworthy School site, with the current facilities. Our challenge now is to ensure that the facilities here are as good as the facilities at the new school.
Over the past 18 months we have looked to improve these facilities. These facilities have seen us invest in new sensory equipment, improve our playground equipment and start the creation of a sensory garden. The next part of our development is to improve our hydrotherapy pool.
Hydrotherapy is key to the individualised curriculum that we offer at Selworthy School. An individualised curriculum that allows our learners to reach their full potential. The benefits of hydrotherapy are truly life changing. But the benefits don’t stop at the school doors.
Our vision is that the pool, when not in use by the school, will be available for community hire. We know that there are individuals and organisations within our community that will benefit by having access to hydrotherapy and this facility will give them the opportunity for that.
This appeal will raise £1million to rebuild our current aging pool. However, this ambition can only be achieved with the help of our school and local community. Below are some of the ways in which you can help.
