Early Years Foundation Stage
At Selworthy School we aim to provide the highest quality care and education for all learners within a safe, caring and happy environment. Learner’s safety and welfare is paramount. We create a safe and secure environment and provide a curriculum which aims to teach learners how to be safe, make choices and assess risks.
As outlined in the EYFS we know that
“Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the most effective support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Learners develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five has a major impact on their future life chances.”
Foundation Stage Curriculum
We plan an exciting and challenging curriculum based on our knowledge and the ongoing observations about how each child learns best. We look in depth into each leaners needs, interests and developmental stages.
We aim to develop and foster positive attitudes towards learning, develop confidence, communication and physical development.
Learners are provided with a range of rich, meaningful firs-hand experiences in which learners are encouraged to explore, think creatively and be busy and active within a range of environments.
“Each area of learning and development is implemented through planned, purposeful play and through a mix of adult-led and child-initiated activities.”
